People often ask if I get bored of going to Hong Kong every year. Well, the honest answer is both yes and no. Yes, I have see and done many things. No, because HK changes all the time. There are many things I have yet to see, visit or experience. Some things like family obligations, I must honour. I also need to continue my training.

The last 12 months have been hectic and I haven't had a proper rest. You might not think too much about tiredness when you are busy. But, the moment you put your out of office notification on, you feel different. You can let your hair down and relax.

I did meet up with my Sifu, Joe Lok. He gave me some valuable advice and I will put that all into practice. What I learned, doesn't necessary apply to a particular area, but many. Sifu's input over the years, directly and indirectly, have been significant. I remember about a decade ago, my enjoyment of Tai Chi waned. What I learned since then, have opened my eyes to new possibilities. I am very grateful. Some techniques are not easy and will take time to get right. If it was easy, then Tai Chi and Qigong wouldn't be a challenge. The teacher student relationship is based on respect and not a financial transaction. Nothing good is simple. To learn something, you need to understand the teacher to understand the art. Sifu took the time to see me and give me advice. I am very grateful to receive.

A HK dream...
A HK dream...

I've never been one to hog sunbeds. Pretty much every morning I will walk down to the old harbour to train. The hot and humid climate in HK doesn't make things easy. A lot of people tell me they want to visit HK and train with all these wonderful masters, do this and that. The reality is, unless you are used to this kind of weather you will likely find it hard. In the afternoons, training in HK is like training inside a sauna. This should be seen as a challenge and not an barrier. As I always say, Tai Chi Qigong anytime, anywhere.

This years trip, I thought will be as fun packed as last year. However, acts of nature forced a change. The outbound flight was cancelled due to a T8 typhoon. So I had to book a different flight and lost 2 days. A number of events took place and that meant less options. When you seen huge crowds at the harbour terminal, then you better have a plan B. The flight back was delayed by an hour and I nearly didn't make the connecting flight back. The staff at the airport said, my connecting flight was in the same terminal and that I had 10 minutes. That was so close! The whole time, I used my training and kept calm.

One of the reasons I go back to HK, is to help their economy. Grass root businesses need our support. I do what I can. The whole point of tourism, is so that visitors spend money. Nobody wants low or no-spending visitors. HK has a lot to offer and she shouldn't be written off so soon.

So, due to the lack of time, there were many things I couldn't do. However, there were a number of other places I visited instead. There are always other places to visit and to eat, which are less crowded. That is of course, part of the fun. HK has plenty of options and it depends on where you look.

Now that I am back, I have plenty of things to keep me busy.
