The student's perspective
White Horse Tai Chi started in 2015 and we're in our 10th year. The early days were hard work and I am grateful for the my students who have supported our club. My late teacher once quoted Dan Docherty, our late master, you get the teacher you deserve. I still believe this is true, but I also think that you get the students you deserve. Gratitude goes both ways.
I have put off having a testimonials page until we have reached a milestone. Here are what some of my students have said.
In my younger days I was very fortunate to have been taught by a number of the extremely knowledgeable martial art instructors, most of them being highly ranked in their specific styles. Although I never gained any great standard myself, I believe that I have garnered enough experience to be able to judge, within reason, the standard at which a class is being taught.
In my opinion Sifu Jason Tsang is an extremely competent instructor; his own technique appears excellent and he has a wealth of knowledge that he is happy to share. Although his classes are fairly informal and he allows his students to work at their own pace, I never feel that we are playing at Tai Chi. This suits me as I don’t believe that martial arts training is a game. I believe I was extremely lucky to have found this class, and would like to thank Sifu Tsang and his senior students for their help and patience.

I’ve been attending Jason’s classes in Dunorlan Park for a while now. In the past I’ve found being in a group a little intimidating, but Jason is very patient and encouraging and I look forward to these training sessions each week. With his guidance I’ve found my balance and coordination improve over the months. I’ve also noticed I’m a lot calmer and more tolerant in my daily life.

I have been attending Jason's Qi Gong class for a few years now. I really enjoy my weekly class. It is a fun class and Jason is very knowledgeable and fun to learn with.

I always feel much calmer and relaxed after class.

I joined the Qigong and Tai Chi classes at White Horse Tai Chi with Jason Tsang three months ago, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health. I’ll admit, I was initially sceptical about how effective this kind of gentle exercise could be—especially after going through a huge weight loss over just six months. I wanted something low-impact to help me rebuild strength and support my body, but I wasn’t expecting the transformation that followed.
In just a short time, I’ve experienced a remarkable range of benefits. Some of my pre-existing health conditions have noticeably improved, my energy levels are higher, and my flexibility and balance have increased far more than I imagined possible. Beyond the physical changes, my mental health and overall sense of wellbeing are better than they’ve been in years.
Jason’s teaching style is calm, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive, making every session something I genuinely look forward to. I can’t recommend these classes enough—whether you’re looking to improve your health, reduce stress, or simply feel more connected to your body, this is a wonderful place to start.
